Guess who's back? Back again Martha’s back Tell a friend Guess who's back? Guess who's back? Guess who's back? Guess who's back?   OK, so maybe Eminem didn't write that song for Martha Koller Faust. But he certainly could have. Koller Faust, the girls gymnastics coach at Mount Horeb, has built...

It was Groundhog Day for Mount Horeb’s boys basketball team last week. Only the Vikings had a far better experience than Bill Murray did. The Vikings faced Baraboo twice in a 96-hour window. Mount Horeb experienced a pair of ‘Senior Nights.’ And the Vikings rolled past the Thunderbirds on both...

Bart Leibfried knew everything would have to go right. Hot shooting. Remarkable defense. And a little bit of luck. It didn’t happen. Mount Horeb’s girls basketball team, which performed its best at the end of the season, struggled against Monona Grove and fell, 62-20, in a WIAA Division 2 regional...
Only three players had tournament experience. So nerves were certainly an issue. When Mount Horeb’s girls basketball team got past the early uneasiness, though, they rolled to a 61-41 win over Milton in a WIAA Division 2 regional quarterfinal game on Feb. 21. The Vikings advanced to face top-seeded...
A terrific season came to an end for Sauk Prairie’s co-op hockey team on Feb. 21. Host Verona raced to a 5-0 lead and toppled the Eagles, 7-1, in a WIAA Division 1 sectional semifinal. Sauk Prairie’s co-op — which also includes players from Mount Horeb, Wisconsin Heights and River Valley — finished...

WAUKESHA — Shock. Mount Horeb senior swimmer Alex Gundrum used the word first. Junior Angus Best then chose the same term himself. The Vikings — a group of just six swimmers competing as an independent school for the first time ever — made a remarkable splash at last Friday’s WIAA Division 2 state...

WAUNAKEE — It pays to be lucky in life as well as on the wrestling mat. The Mount Horeb/Barneveld wrestling team couldn’t catch a break, though, at last Saturday’s WIAA Division 1 Waunakee Sectional. MH/B had advanced seven wrestlers from regional competition at DeForest the previous week. Only the...

It was a rough week for Mount Horeb’s boys basketball team on the court. Off the court, things went swimmingly. The Vikings received the No. 3 seed in their WIAA Division 2 sectional on Sunday afternoon. Mount Horeb has a first round bye, then hosts either sixth-seeded Milton or 11th-seeded Baraboo...

Mount Horeb’s boys basketball team has picked the wrong time to lose three straight games. The good news for the Vikings, though, is they still have time to reverse course. Mount Horeb fell at Monroe, 79-61, on Feb., 14. The Vikings then dropped a 74-72 decision at Oregon on Feb. 17. Mount Horeb...

Success breeds success. Winning leads to more winning. And no one knows that more than Mount Horeb’s girls gymnastics team. The Vikings — who had several holes to fill from last year’s WIAA Division 2 state runner-up team — haven’t missed a beat this winter. And last Saturday, Mount Horeb added...
