Community food drive Sunday
Mount Horeb High School students in Club Interact will host a community-wide food drive Sunday, October 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Intermediate Center parking lot.
Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18. Local members noticed an alarming trend in the number of people experiencing food insecurity in the community and decided to organize a special event at which anyone in Mount Horeb can easily swing by and drop off food to help feed local residents who need a little help.
The number of people served monthly by the Neighbors Helping Neighbors (NHN) Food Closet has more than doubled since January this year, and July was the first month ever that the NHN Food Closet gave out more food than it took in.
The Intermediate Center is located at 200 Hanneman Boulevard, Mt. Horeb. The drive is expected to take place in the bus loop. They cannot accept expired or spoiled items.
If people wish to donate funds, they can do so by mailing a check to: PO BOX 196, Mt. Horeb, WI 53572 or they can donate online at mthorebneighbors.org.
