Homecoming parade cancelled due to weather
Heavy rain predicted for Friday, Oct. 13
EDITOR'S NOTE: Friday's Homecoming parade has been cancelled by the Mount Horeb Area School District due to the likelihood of heavy rain and winds.
Here is the district's statement:
Due to the current weather conditions, we will not be able to hold our homecoming parade today. We are truly saddened that our community won't be able to cheer on our Vikings in person.
The homecoming football game has been moved to 5:00 p.m. Because of the volatility of the weather (e.g. lightning that causes mid-game delay/cancellation), children who attend the football game must be accompanied by an adult.
We invite you to celebrate our Vikings from wherever you are! Throughout the day, our social media feeds will keep you up to date on how our Vikings are celebrating homecoming.
We still look forward to dancing the night away tomorrow night during our Homecoming Dance from 8 - 11 p.m. at the High School gym.

The orginal article follows:
The 2023 homecoming parade will take place on Friday, October 13th. Start time for the parade will be approximately 2:45 - fifteen minutes after the pep rally at the high school.
The route will start on Academy Street in front of the Primary Center. From there it will take a left onto Fourth Street for a block. The route will continue, taking a right onto Garfield Street where it will proceed to the High School. This is the route used in the past.
The Middle and Intermediate Center School students will be sitting along Garfield Street near the high school and the blocks East and West of 8th Street. All community members attending the parade are encouraged to sit west of Garfield and Sixth Streets.
Any high school-related organization or alumni floats need to be registered by Wednesday, October 11th. Due to time constraints of the parade, only high school related teams/clubs or alumni floats are included in the parade. Registration forms can be picked up at the high school office.
One reminder to the parade participants that there is to be nothing thrown or distributed during the homecoming parade for the safety of the students. If you have any questions regarding the parade, please call Todd Nesheim at 437-7121.
