Marlene is also a proud veteran of the Wisconsin Army National Guard, where she served for nine years after enlisting while still in high school. She attained the rank of Sergeant (E-5) and served with the 107th Maintenance Company in Viroqua and the 229th Engineer Company in Richland Center.Marlene is grateful for the opportunity to have served and is honored to speak at today’s ceremony.
Marlene Tilsner currently teaches social studies at MHHS and has spent more than 30 years educating students in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Texas. Originally from the Blue River area in southwestern Wisconsin, she now lives just outside of Middleton with her husband and their dogs. Although she will be retiring from teaching at Mount Horeb this year, Marlene has deeply valued her time in the district. Throughout her career, one of her greatest passions has been helping establish and continue Veterans Day assemblies, creating meaningful connections between students and those who have served our country.

Union Cemetery for the presentation of a wreath, firing of volleys, and taps. Please join them.
